Begone the longing,
the silent warning of an empty morning.
another sleepless night
On dreaded anniversaries
we spin it over from temple to temple
remembering a version
Was it a late light waltz
where we painted early impressions
against a sudden chill?
Maybe we didn't feel it then,
just our echoing praise dusted in shivers
false shades before bitterness sets in
The backdrop of the times
The differences we had in mind
all tied up in delusion,
to fight away the grey spots in our dignity
We always knew there would be an end
for there's only so many hours in the day,
and a lifetime couldn't fix this
No one wants to carry or be seen to be carried,
so in the late light I was choosing to be free,
not even knowing what that means
